Qiu Qin丘琴 (Deng Tianyou 鄧天佑) (1915-2006), was born in Bin 賓County , Heilongjiang黑龍江Province. In 1938, he graduated from Northeastern University 東北大學 in Beiping 北平 (present-day Beijing). During the Anti-Japanese War, he served as secretary of the Sino-Soviet Friendship Association 中蘇友好協會 in Chongqing. After the founding of the PRC, he worked in the Foreign Languages Committee外文委, the Institute of Natural Science History of the Chinese Academy of Sciences中科院自然科学史研究所 and other units. Qiu is especially noted for his translations of many Soviet poems.
